SITCOM WRITING
COURSE

8-12 weeks from initial idea to finished pilot script

You're thinking about paying your hard-earned money to a stranger on the internet…

…in the vague hope their Sitcom Writing Course will turn your comedy career and life around, huh? Do you know how crazy that sounds?
Luckily for you, that’s exactly what I do! After reading close to 1,000 scripts on my pay-what-you-can script reading scheme, I’ve developed a 8-12 week course that’ll turn your sitcom idea into comedy gold. And the best part is, it works!

What do we do on the course?

  • Initial Idea Development: Together we'll figure out your natural comedy tastes, identify what makes your voice unique, and build a show that showcases your natural talents - answering the questions, why this show and why are you the person to write it?

  • Character Development: We're not just creating characters; we're crafting comedy legends that'll leap off the page and into the hearts of your audience. We’ll look at the emotions beyond the physical actions, the key struggles, dreams, fears, secrets, vulnerabilities… and how to use these emotions to make the show even funnier!

  • Series 1 Outline and beyond: We're talking story arcs that'll keep your viewers coming back for more, season after season, like it's the hottest show in town and getting producers excited and using the words ‘scope’ and ‘longevity’.

  • Episode Outlines: We’ll take a deep dive into how to structure episodes with relatable themes and recognisable struggles and how to employ side-splitting subplots and plot twists that are so unexpected, they'll make your readers throw-up with joy.

  • Pilot outline + Script: We're going to use all of these skills to write a clear and concise outline, that’ll give you maximum confidence to write a pilot episode.

  • Pilot script feedback and polish: We’ll get the script into undeniable shape that's ready to kick down some industry doors!

Why this course?

  • Flexibility: I understand you've got a life outside of writing, so we'll make the sessions work with your schedule and we’ll have as many sessions as it takes, no fixed amount.

  • Deadlines: However, I'll keep you on track with deadlines and follow up emails to keep progress moving at a consistent clip.

  • Feedback: You'll get written feedback and a 2-hour Zoom consultation at each stage of the course.

  • Personal Guidance: I'll be your comedy coach, tailoring advice to your unique style and aspirations - reach out at any time with any questions you may have and I’ll be glad to answer them.

  • Exclusivity: Unlike other courses, I only work with 6 writers at a time so I can give you the time and attention you deserve.

By the end of this journey, you'll have a sitcom pilot script and a newfound ability to make people laugh until their head explodes and you’re wanted for murder. No flash sales pitch here, just a promise to help you unleash your comedic genius.

Okay enough, how much is this going to cost me?

£890.00

Testimonials

We literally won The David Noobs Memorial Trust writing competition with a script that Adam helped us refine.

WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND FIVE STARS!

I now have a sitcom script whereas without Adam I would have still been sitting in front of a blank screen.

He’s a miracle worker – he’s helped me structure my disparate ideas, form characters, and actually write an entire script – a process which changed from ‘un-ascendable mountain’ before working with Adam, to enjoyable and all-consuming with his help.

The sessions have been really good fun - he’s incredibly knowledgeable and supportive and the whole process has been invaluable.
— Jessica Brooks
I am working with Adam Lavis on a new spec script and it is GAME SLASH LIFE-CHANGING!!! I would recommend his course in an absolute instant.”

Signed up for the last run of this. Adam is ace. Dedicated to helping, great, to the point advice. All round swell guy. If you’ve ever thought about writing for TV and just never got round to it, I really couldn’t recommend him enough.
— Jack Smith
Can 100% recommend Adam - helped me get my airport sitcom off the ground (pun very much intended) and provided a writing structure that made sense.

Plus gave me a great tip about doing 5 things a day that has really helped me (he’ll tell you more about it)
